Roadtrip 2023 Fall : Richland - Bend - Reno - Mammoth Lakes - Henderson - Donkey Heaven - Sedona - Joshua Tree - Paso Robles - St Helena - Brookings - Seaside

Day 11 - Cerbat Foothills - Metwell Trailhead

The eyeballs are just a tad disturbing.

We arrive at the trailhead - but it wasn't the trailhead we wanted. Both Google and Garmin brought us here. Never mind, The Team is ready for the first desert hike of this trip. We'll save the other trailhead for another day.

Finally - this trip has taken way too long to get to the good stuff.

A really big hoof print. We think it might be a Weredeer. They hang about these parts, preying on cougars and coyotes.

We are suspicious that members of the local animal kingdom are rooting up these plants at their base - and chewing the root ends. Mmmm - yummy root ends.

We have one of these plants with the orange flowers in our front yard. The hummingbirds love them.

The kneehills of Kingman lie in the distance.

A roadtrip tradition continues: The Mystery Poo of the Day.

This is what it looks like when you pass through the Kingman StarGate. Mind the prickly bits - we are in cactus country.

Shelties howl when the photography gets boring. This is boring.

The team charges out of the arroyo crossing.

Moonrise, Cerbat Foothills.

Guardian of the Cerbat Hills - only those I permit may pass. And definitely do not touch my barb wire!!

Grasses at play.

Kingman backside. Every town has a backside.

VW on a rooftop - this one's definitely not migrating anymore. Hope this isn't the end of an era.

Trains go by. Double stacked containers all the way.

Almost home for the evening.
